Building with Purpose.
I've spent my career building systems, solving complex technical problems, and exploring how technology can improve everyday life. My work spans software development, artificial intelligence, cloud-native infrastructure, and intelligent environments, with a focus on creating solutions that are practical, scalable, and meaningful. Whether I'm designing applications, building automation systems, or experimenting with emerging AI technologies, I'm driven by a desire to understand how complex systems work and how they can be improved.
One of my primary areas of focus is AI infrastructure and self-hosted computing. I operate a home data center that serves as both a learning environment and a production-grade platform for experimentation. Built on virtualization, containerization, and high-performance hardware, the environment allows me to explore private AI deployments, large language models, vector databases, observability platforms, and distributed workloads. By hosting these systems myself, I gain firsthand experience with the challenges of reliability, performance, networking, security, and resource management that modern AI systems require.
To support these efforts, I build and maintain a Kubernetes cluster that serves as the foundation for many of my projects. Through Kubernetes, I explore container orchestration, workload scheduling, GPU acceleration, service discovery, monitoring, and automated recovery. This environment allows me to deploy and manage applications the same way many modern enterprises operate at scale. Building and maintaining the cluster has deepened my understanding of distributed systems and reinforced the importance of designing resilient, self-healing infrastructure.
Artificial intelligence is another major area of interest. Beyond simply consuming AI tools, I focus on understanding how AI systems are built, deployed, and integrated into real-world applications. I experiment with local and cloud-hosted language models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), autonomous agents, knowledge systems, and AI-assisted development workflows. My goal is to bridge the gap between emerging AI capabilities and practical solutions that can help individuals, communities, and organizations solve meaningful problems.
At the core of everything I build is problem solving. Throughout my career as a software developer and technical leader, I've enjoyed tackling challenges that span multiple disciplines, from application architecture and backend services to infrastructure, automation, data systems, and user experience. I believe the most effective solutions come from understanding both the technical details and the human needs behind them. This mindset influences every project I undertake, whether it's a professional system, a personal experiment, or a long-term platform vision.
My smart home serves as another living laboratory for innovation. Through a growing ecosystem of sensors, automations, networking equipment, voice assistants, and intelligent devices, I explore how technology can create more responsive and personalized environments. Using platforms such as Home Assistant, custom integrations, and AI-powered automation, I continuously experiment with ways to make physical spaces more aware, efficient, and helpful. These projects combine many of my interests (software engineering, infrastructure, AI, and human-centered design) into a single connected system that evolves alongside the people who live in it.
Together, these areas form the foundation of my work: building intelligent systems, understanding complex technology, and applying that knowledge to create solutions that are useful, resilient, and capable of improving everyday experiences.
// areas of focus
Five surfaces I work across.
The categories overlap on purpose: infrastructure serves AI, AI shapes environments, environments host behavior, and the notes document all of it.
- 01
Infrastructure
Bare-metal homelab, virtualization, container orchestration, GPU compute, observability. The plumbing nobody sees until it breaks.
- 02
AI
Local inference, structured outputs, multi-provider routing, RAG, autonomous agents. Useful intelligence rather than novel intelligence.
- 03
Intelligent Environments
Home Assistant + LLMs, presence detection, voice satellites, energy intelligence. Spaces that learn the cadence of a home.
- 04
Neurish
Neurish, Friends With Epilepsy. Onboarding, wave notifications, trust architecture. Engineered for people in vulnerable moments.
- 05
Healthcare Technology
Behavioral platforms, longitudinal data, evidence-informed UX, calm interfaces for neurological communities.
// in flight
Current projects.
The three I am actively engineering or operating right now.
Neurish
A calm behavioral platform for the epilepsy community. Onboarding, daily reflection, pattern recognition, gentle community.
Friends With Epilepsy
Intentional community platform for people living with epilepsy. Trust-first design, behavioral targeting that respects users.
Project Atlas
Observability for distributed AI workloads. Unified telemetry across GPU clusters, model gateways, and downstream services.
// stack
What I reach for.
A working tool list. Picks shift as the work shifts, but the criteria stay the same: durable, observable, and quiet under load.
